      Foley Local 4772 member Cody Carraway’s son, Easton, is in St. Jude Hospital in Memphis.  His son was diagnosed with cancer (Sacrococcygeal Teratoma). The little boy is 15 months old and has some difficult days and months ahead. Speaking with Brother Carraway they expect to be in Memphis at least 6 months for his treatment.

A host of additional behavioral health issues can also emerge, including anxiety, depression and even suicide.

      Today SB-214 passed out of the House on a bipartisan vote 65-0.  After passing out of the Senate earlier this session, our bill now heads to Governor Hickenlooper with unanimous  bipartisan support. This is testament to the continued collaborative efforts and hard work from everyone involved over the last two years.

His shift mates transported him to  Lake West emergency room where a CT scan revealed a 5-6 cm tumor in his frontal lobe.

Now, he's looking to bring in more donations for its continued restoration through photography. Nazarian said he is providing a souvenir print of the vintage fire truck to anyone who donates $50 toward its restoration and upkeep.

      A Special Meeting is scheduled at the Union Hall on April 13, 2017 in accordance with Article V, Section 6 of the IAFF Local 244 Constitution & By-Laws. The purpose of this meeting is to approve the Political Action Committee recommendation for Governor of New Mexico. The meeting will start promptly at 6:00pm, the General Meeting with follow at 7:00pm.
      What's New at IAFF 3080

      The Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center is collaborating with 4C faculty to create more effective ways to reduce the vulnerability of firefighters to a variety of cancers. We are working with Palm Beach County Fire Rescue and Miami-Dade Fire Rescue to develop a campaign that aims to increase firefighters’ willingness to engage in a variety of preventive behaviors that will reduce their cancer risks, including cleaning gear after fires, as well as adherence to screening recommendations. Campaign strategies are based on the findings from formative research that included focus groups with firefighters, and ride-alongs and observations of firefighter work and communication practices.

      Additionally, this team is creating a new easy-to-use web app that will allow firefighters to enter simple, but important information about the characteristics of each fire, so we can measure their exposure to potentially damaging toxic compounds. This will provide important information to epidemiologists assessing cancer risks to firefighters.
